I just finished reading the blog of my friend, Mike Scotto. A very talent filmmaker...err...writer...everything. The man is so articulate and insightful; it is scary. At the age of 25, I would think, he is in the midst of writing children's books (which have already been published)! Not only this, it appears to me that he is happily married with his head on his shoulders. He knows who he is, what his talents are, and, above all, he has found "love." Am I jealous? No. This is a question I imagine one would be tempted to ask. Is it the Peaceful Warrior mentality that is taking over me? Perhaps. It doesn't matter (what your name is). At the end of the day, I simply admire this man. He, without realizing it, has giving me the courage to move forwards with another one of the, so called, "new year's resolutions"... so far, I am in the midst of accomplishing the third, this being it. What are the other two? 1. Going to the gym. 2. Learn to ride a bicycle. Done and done. There doesn't appear to be a more suitable time for this "resolution" to start taking its course than on this beautiful 4th of July (more like 2 in the a.m. on the 5th...) 2008. I am not sure how involved and open I can really be with my feelings (seeing as how this is an open blog for all to see or to fill the empty canvas that is the internet with mere letters that make me seem as someone who, he himself is insightful)... this will be a great way to simply look back and meditate at the day that has come and gone.
Today, I spent most of the morning working on the edits for this Challenge Aspen C.A.M.O. documentary. It is going fairly well, I must lie to myself and admit. I've never been a fan of redoing my work, but in this case seeing as how I cannot seem to get my hands on the latest version of FCP2 (aside from looking on clist)...I will have to recut all the work that I did with Jason. Maybe for the best...I will have a chance now to see it with a fresh eye. All the footage does look great and I have high hopes for this short. I am a bit intimidated by it, but I do feel that I can pull it off...well. During my edit, I finished watching "The Lookout" from the night before. Matthew Goode truly is a FANTASTIC actor. The movie for me felt as though it was too simple and, even though the filmmaker may not agree with this, too nicely wrapped in a bow at the end...Yes, they get to create their diner. Later in the afternoon, Anton came home (after many days away), and he and I went over to Mr. Geoff and Alex's apartment. I like them a lot. They truly remind me of my buddies from back east. I am happy and glad to have met them. We ended up going to two bbqs. Quick thoughts on both. At the first, it was an "American Gladiators" theme. Very nice to see two very cute girls in those outfits (too bad that the one I like is dating an actor I may collaborate with..). He should never read this...but if he does, hey, it is a compliment! :-) After kicking the soccer ball around, we realized that most of the people there were, in fact, couples. Fun! Let's go! At the other bbq, I felt as though I was in one of Jason's (my old roommate) pot dealer's home. Rice krispy treats! Yum. There was some good food there thankfully. The highlights of this place included a 12 year old girl (who, at that age, reminded of someone much much older--who I did still beat at a race) and a couple of divorcee ladies. Yes, good times indeed. After we had enough (and getting a pseudo 30 year old's phone number), we went back to Geoff's. There we became very acquainted with the Wii and some vapor. Our night was capped by a screening of "Wanted." Great visual direction...story...not so much. Mass suicide? Rats? Morgan Freeman plays a villain AGAIN?!! Gone Baby Gone.
That's all for tonight...enjoying my How I Met Your Mother Season 3, Facebook stalking, and breathing.
Much love and blessings,
Jonathan
PS: JibJab is FANTASTIC.
